Daliot 2.6.19: Snack on the Pavilion

Recently, the cold weather has been keeping us indoors for most of the day, and as you may know, we’ve been on a quest to uncover our connections to certain colors inside the classroom and creating a color theme of our own.

However, yesterday, we were spontaneously blessed with 70 degree weather! The Daliot took full advantage of this and decided to hold a little afternoon picnic on the pavilion during afternoon snack time!

This was our first time having snack on the pavilion. We seemed to really enjoy biting into our crackers and cheese while the bright sun touched our cheeks and the warm breeze whistled through our hair.

“It’s sun out here!” yells Harper while looking for a place to sit down. We took a little time to also reflect on what we’ve been focusing on in the classroom. “Do you recognize any colors outside that we’ve been using in our classroom lately?” we ask.

Elliott: “Umm, no”

Mad: “The sun!”

Teacher: “Why did you choose the sun, Mad?”

Harper: “Because its YELLOW!”, yells Harper before Mad could respond.

Mad: “Yes! its yellow”, she says while nodding her head.

We’ve made the connection between an object and a color. (yellow=sun). Soon, Harper connects another object to the color yellow. “And my dress is yellow too!” she screams, while pointing to her dress.

The discussion did not last long before Mad and Harper offered to help the rest of the Daliot open their cheese sticks; and that’s okay because we wanted to take a “little break” from our color quest and enjoy the warm weather and views.
